Summary

Julia Eecen is the director of the Hydrogen Financing Mechanisms team in Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Julia is responsible for the implementation of the Hydrogen Headstart program (delivered by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency), leading cooperation with Germany on the design of a jointly supported H2Global window and designing the Hydrogen Production Tax Incentive with the Treasury. 
Prior to joining the Hydrogen Branch, Julia led a team in the Critical Minerals Office facilitating the development of the sector, with a focus on the minerals used in metals and alloys. Julia led the development and implementation of the 2023 Critical Minerals Strategy, the Critical Minerals Development program and international engagement with the US. Julia has also worked extensively across a range of roles in the Department of Industry, Science and Resources since 2016.
